| tomentose, 5-6 lobed, capitate; perianth glabrous or glandular, white with a red midrib, |
| varying through pink to red to a deep dark red; calyx segments unequal, the innermost |
| series narrower than the outer. A member of the Section Capitata Torr. & Gray of the |
| Subgenus Oregonium S. Wats. Related to E. kingii and E. ochrocephalum. |
