Bald Mountain, Mendocino National Forest, Mendocino County, California. Deciduous

perennial from subterranean caudex, leaves fleshy, flowers white at base and rose on upper

half; south-facing flope, dry loose soil strewn with rocky rubble.

Elevation: 6300 ft.
