While the area has typical foothill wildflower species, the abundance and high diversity make this area worth a visit, depending on the year (of course!).  In some years, depending upon lake level, there is a super bloom” of Lupinus nanus, Lupinus bicolor, Lupinus benthamii, and Lupinus stiversii. The trails are shaded, easily accessible, but sometimes rutted and in some places a bit steep.
